Cake Pops

So I took a little detour from scrappin'...
Being the coffee addict I am, I frequent the nearby Starbucks drive through.
Those who can relate must have seen the "cake pops" they recently started selling.
Well bells and whistles started going off in my head, "Hey, I think can make those!"

GRRR.
I hate those bells and whistles, they seem to keep going off until I complete the project.

So here they are, my very own homemade Cake Pops:

Simple to make though not nearly as beautiful as the Starbucks ones.

1. Make a box cake and let it cool.
2. Crumble the cake. (I used my Cuisinart hand blender grinder attachment)
3. Mix entire can of frosting in with the crumbs. (I used whipped so it would stir in easier)
4. Roll into balls (think golf ball) and cool in refrigerator on wax paper.
5. Melt chocolate candy (I used Wilton's light chocolate) in microwave.
6. Dip sticks into melted chocolate 1st and then push into the cake balls.
7. Quickly sprinkle with desired toppings.
8. Let dry upright in Styrofoam (they dry really fast and can be transferred to a plate)

* Wilton also makes "Pops Favor bags" $1.99 for 12.
They worked great to package these. I got all the things I needed at Michael's.

HERE is a link to another brave soul who made her own cake pops.

They taste like brownies on a stick, seriously yummy though you really only want one, kinda rich.

AND I was invited to a linky party HERE

FWF Suzi Blu

Happy Easter Weekend blog hoppers!
Here is my one and only Suzi Blu stamp... I just bought her from i {heart}papers.
I think she is simply DARLING!

She is framed in the stamp from the With Love Unity and Echo Park set.
I colored her with my Copics and added some Diamond Stickles to her flowers for a little sparkle.

Don't forget to leave comments on ALL the blogs for a chance to win UNITY STAMPS!!!

My Favorite Things Sketch

Please check out my post for your chance to win an
October Afternoon GIVE AWAY!!! Deadline: April 15th 11:59 PM CDT

I have started a small collection of My Favorite Things stamps.
I only have three so in my quest to learn more about MFT
I stumbled upon this sketch challenge over at SCS:

Here's my take on the sketch:
This little dinosaur had me smiling the whole time I was coloring him...
I imagine my sweet little nephew Bennett wearing something like that for Halloween someday.

Hope he made you smile too... Have a great week!!!

Unity's 'Fashion' Challenge

Please check out my previous post  for your chance to win an
October Afternoon GIVE AWAY!!! Deadline: April 15th 11:59 PM CDT

This is Unity's second month of the "New Unity Challenge" found on their blog.
The theme is 'Fashion'
I'm more of jeans and t-shirt kinda gal but I took shot anyway...
Here's my attempt:
I wanted a retro old time-y sorta feel so I used October Afternoon's
Modern Homemaker paper line.
As some of may know, October Afternoon's paper does not use true white color
so I inked my white paper with Tim's Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink.
I paper pieced the yellow polka dot ribbon belt
and added some bling with my iRock tool.

The dress form is called classic beauty and
the sentiment is from the set undeniably you.

This is my second 5x5 card... I think I'm getting better. ;)

Butterfly Love-FWF

The first step is admitting your powerless; typically over alcohol but
I have an obsession of the mind... butterflies.
I don't know at what exact moment it happened but
I love them.  Like really a lot!!!

I made this card with October Afternoon paper
and no big surprise...my Unity Stamps!
The sentiment is from the Quote Bundle Pack,
which is well worth every penny!!!

Oh and don't forget to check out the April KOTM:

Enjoy this Day

Today I have a HAPPY card to share...
If you haven't noticed I really like to use kraft as a base for my cards.

One of my crafty friends uses VersaMark to create subtle backgrounds
and I've always liked her results
so be kind, this is my FIRST attempt.

I think it's growing on me...
This bike and balloons image is a Unity KOTM stamp from February's kit...
I colored the balloons with my Copics and plan to try some paper piecing soon.

Here's a close up to show the dimension:

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my card!
Have a wonderful Tuesday,
I'll see you later this week! :)

Mini's make me HAPPY

A quick little post for quick little cards:

I really like making mini's (3x3)
They are a great way to use up your scrap paper AND they don't take very long to create.

I used a combination of Unity stamps and Close to My Heart stamps on all 6.
Hope you like 'em!!!

i {heart} 2 stamp... SFYTT

I have become a HUGE sketch fan.
I really struggle to make cards.
They don't come very natural to me so sketches help me get started
and it doesn't hurt that sometimes there are prizes!!!
Unity is sponsoring the April sketch at

SFYTT (sketch for you to try)

Here is my entry:
I used Unity February KOTM stamps with Bella Blvd paper (my new FAV)
I have never done a 5x5 card...I think I need a little more practice.

FWF + Bella Blvd

Whoa that was a fast week huh?!
I am looking forward to the weekend...
FWF always gets me in the mood to get crafty.
Check out the full list of FWF blogs HERE
When Bella Blvd & Unity came out with this Tail Wagger Itty Bitty
I just KNEW he had to be mine...
We have FOUR dogs
and TWO of them look quite similar to this spotted image.

I used Bella Blvd's Family Dynamix paper line to display this happy creature.
A scalloped circle punch, a sentiment from Happy Everything,
a few pop dots and your done.

Thanks for stopping by,
I look forward to hearing what you think!
